International Advisory Council (IAC)

HHERF / International Advisory Council (IAC)

Since we are PEOPLE and we represent PEOPLE, HHERF is always maximizing and capitalizing upon individual power. Alone we are drops together we are an ocean! The IAC is a is a group of international leaders who bring unique knowledge and skills which augment the knowledge and skills of HHERF Board of Directors in order to more effectively guide the organization. The IAC does not have formal authority to govern the organization, that is, the IAC cannot issue directives which must be followed. Rather, the IAC serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to the board of directors.

The IAC plays an important public relations role as well as providing program staff with a fresh perspective on programmatic issues. The IAC members will be selected carefully to ensure a proper representation for various stakeholders, industries, decision makers and more, to ensure a wide range of expertise that can form the WISHES (World Integrated and Sustainable Health Eco-System). This council will tremendously complement to the effectiveness of the HHERF Board of Directors as it works to promote Human Health.

Since HHERF Board of Directors has ultimate governance authority for the organization, the IAC will focus narrowly on identifying global challenges that impact Human Health in order to advise or support the organization mission and vision. The IAC may evaluate the performance of a program, review/monitor/assess a specific program, serve as advocate for the organization to the community it serves, gather input from/serve as a liaison with relevant constituencies, provide feedback to the organization from the community, provide technical expertise, provide an independent/unbiased sounding board, and assist staff in determining important activities. Other possible responsibilities of the IAC include determining mission and purpose of a program, articulating the goals, means, and primary constituents to be served by a program, ensuring effective planning, monitoring and strengthening of programs and services, ensuring adequate financial resources, and enhancing the organization’s public standing.

The IAC will start with 70 Leaders from the 5 continents then opinion of members will be taken to wide the range and include more members and more countries at a later stage. Members of the IAC can serve as Human Health Advocates (HHAs) if they are willing to. IAC members are volunteers because volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both societies at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity, and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. HHERF contributes to promoting Human Health by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of communities, including GCE (Global Competent Experts) and HHAs throughout the world. HHERF embraces volunteerism as global and inclusive, and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity as well as the values that sustain it: Integrity, Independence and Impartiality, Impact, Innovation, Insight, Inclusivity, Integration, Commitment, Persistence.

HHERF will work in 80 countries across the globe forming a considerable wealth of expertise that is strengthening the complementary roles of public institutions and people in Human Health development.

HHERF global network of HHAs, stimulates innovation and collaboration. This has a revitalizing effect on the work of our stakeholders/partners. HHERF role is bridging between the Global organizations and foundations, communities, and governments. Having a sustainable collaboration strategy enables HHERF and its partners to link initiatives at global, regional and national levels to common outcomes, focused on a clearly defined results approach.
